Why Corporate is Rethinking the Cubicle to Increase Productivity and Save Space; The United States Green Building Council, the Washington-based nonprofit organization, in 1998, created the “green concept” that buildings need to be certified as “environmentally friendly”. The council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, created in July 2005, define a building’s energy efficiency and, as importantly low-impact and nontoxic construction guidelines.

Classifying existing buildings as “environmentally friendly” and awarding them LEED certification is new and it is changing the way construction companies, architects, and developers operate. All of our systems furniture products come from recycled materials, MAiSPACE co-founder and Vice President Mark Bassil says. Our products are made from post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) from ground up soda bottles. Much of the steel and aluminum in products have also been recycled. Our products can also be broken down and quickly disassembled in minutes using very simple tools, such as scissors and screwdrivers.

As the leading office system furniture manufacturer, we produce low impact products through low impact processes. For one of our lines, MAiOFFICE, we use a state of the art thermo-forming manufacturing process. A poly-acrylic 5 Step UV finishing process results in a durable finish that does not fade in daylight exposure. Most importantly, the process is 100% environmentally friendly, while being stain and solvent resistant. "It is simply the most durable and elegant finish available," says Bassil.
