Ergonomic MAiCHAIR Line Perfect from Cubicles to Executive Suites
Ergonomic Cubicles to Executive Suites;
MT. Olive NJ, September 8 - "Our sleek MAiCHAIR ergonomic task seating line simplifies decision-making for facilities managers by providing affordable style, comfort and ergonomic features important to the productivity and well being of every employee," says Mark Bassil, vice president of modular office furniture systems manufacturer MAiSPACE, based here. "No longer do unit prices determine which level of staff gets which chair. MAiCHAIR is so affordable it is the perfect answer to task seating from cubicles to the executive suite,"
MAiSPACE does not subscribe to the thought that "task seating" serves as a catch-all term for any seating used outside the executive suite.
"At MAiSPACE we consider all office functions associated with tasks," says Bassil. "Our approach to the office-wide task seating found in our MAiCHAIR line encompasses work-related activities whether in cubicles, private offices, collaboration areas, conference rooms or board rooms."
The chair is where people spend most of their time when in the office. Yet studies have shown that the conventional office chair is one of the largest contributors to physical discomfort and reduced productivity in the modern office, "Correct seating, therefore, is more than high style. It is comfort, ergonomics, durability, mobility and flexibility among other criteria," Bassil maintains.
A Chair for All Seasons
Task seating must not be considered as a singular topic "Facility managers must select seating with an understanding that it should be based on or paired with the activities being performed by office personnel," Bassil states. "For example, while personnel may spend most of their time in their workspace chair, the chair itself need not be confined to that person's workspace. This suggests that when an individual adjusts his or her chair for maximum comfort, it makes sense, office layout permitting, to take the chair to a team meeting area rather than fit oneself into another seat. That's one reason why MAiCHAIR conforms to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommendations for a five-leg base with casters that allow easy rolling across the floor."
Movement, or varying working positions within the individual workspace, is likewise an ergonomic issue, Bassil points out. "Task seating should accommodate employees who wish to change their working position through an easy-to-use mechanism to raise or lower the seat," he says. "Specially designed work surfaces can adjust to allow tasks to be performed up to a full standing position, in which case the chair can be rolled out of the way until used again. This allows repositioning keyboards and monitors for maximum comfort or to provide posture variation that brings relief from constantly working in one position."
Task Chairs for Multiple Users
Because employees are becoming increasingly mobile, many organizations have responded by creating shared workspaces that co-workers can use when they need to be in the office. This helps reduce costs by reducing the amount of floor space that must be rented. Some progressive firms are also providing touch down facilities in their reception areas that permit visitors to go online or otherwise do business while waiting for their appointment.
"Multiple users can give task seating a real workout when different occupants adjust the chair to his or her own liking," Bassil says. "Inferior designs, poor construction and limited choices in adjustments are areas where many products on the market fail. A bad chair day does not contribute to productivity or employee morale."
MAiCHAIR approaches task seating through an outstanding design that meets or exceeds OSHA guidelines on office chair components. "Especially attractive is the chair's passive ergonomics achieved through our engineered plastic shell," Bassil says. "It molds to the shape of the individual user without the complicated adjustments that research shows are almost never used."
Chair occupants who do adjust their seating find the MAiCHAIR adjusting mechanism a study in simplicity. It consists of one easy-to-operate Syncro-Tilt mechanism providing adjustable tension resistance, variations in pneumatic seat height and multi- position tilt-lock control to assure the comfort of all occupants.
Thighs and hips are supported by a well-padded seat cushion with a waterfall edge to improve blood flow. Padded armrests are adjustable up and down allowing shoulders to relax and elbows to stay close to the body. Another feature normally associated with more costly task seating is a backrest that easily allows the user to recline 20 degrees from the vertical while supporting the back in a variety of seated postures. The 5-position headrest adjusts 15 degrees to prevent static loading of the neck and shoulder muscles and can accommodate even the tallest user.
MAiCHAIR Options
MAiCHAIR is available in three basic models. Fully adjustable movable seating is available with or without the 5-position headrest. Either option comes with a 5-star base in a choice of lightweight reinforced plastic or elegant polished aluminum fitted with urethane casters. Rounding out the offering are ergonomic side or guest chairs available with or without arms.
"A broad selection of fabrics and colors complements the rich variety available for the MAiSPACE stackable/de-stackable panels that are attached to our modular office structural components," Bassil states. "This gives interior designers the option to color code office layouts to identify various business activities; to mix and match colors, or to give staff the option of picking a favorite fabric, color or texture. Another unusual feature of MAiCHAIR is that when fabrics begin to show wear, cushions can easily be removed and replaced without the use of tools."
Premium Quality Task Seating Without a Premium Price
Despite boasting features equal or superior to the most expensive task seating on the market, the MAiCHAIR line is eminently affordable due to the MAiSPACE approach to design, manufacturing and logistics within the contract furniture industry. "Our price points across our entire line of modular office furniture systems and fittings average 40% below our competitors," Bassil says. "That's why we can provide modular offices from $12 - $15 per square foot installed - regardless of the number of units ordered."
